| all-inclusive, executive class bow hunt for trophy whitetail deer |
Kenora, Ontario CANADA, located on the north shore of famous Lake of the Woods is home to some of the largest free ranging, CWD free whitetail deer in North America.
Situated just 3 hours north of International Falls Minnesota and only 2 hours east of Winnipeg Manitoba, Kenora’s heavy timber conceals spectacular bucks that weigh in excess of 300 lbs. with many beautiful tall tined eight pointers weighing between 230 & 270 lbs.
A well disciplined bow hunter could have the opportunity to arrow a 10, 12, 14 point or better buck, ranging in score from 140 –190 P&Y, while most average bow hunters should get a shot at a heavy beamed 8 or 10 point scoring in the 120 – 130 P&Y range.
Our animals carry the same characteristics and growth patterns of those monster bucks found in Canada's prairie provinces. That is, big bodies and big racks. Timber hunting compared to prairie hunting takes on its own unique set of stategies. Due to the density of our forests, our bucks are well hidden and seldom seen outside of the rut. That makes for no shortage of large, mature bucks for archers to ambush hunt within the thick forest cover.

The hunting season for non-residents of Canada begins in early October and ends in the middle of November, spanning a period of six-weeks. The rut in our area generally begins during the last few days of October, leaving only three weeks for our guests to hunt during the rut. We have no interest in placing our guests on stand outside the rut, therefor we only cater to clients during the three weeks associated with the rut, rather than the full six week non-resident hunting season. Consider that we only accept three bow hunters per week, with ProBow you’re purchasing a quality bow hunt during the rutting phase, while staying and dining at the finest accomodations Kenora has to offer. We’re looking for quality not quantity when we talk bow hunting.
The area we hunt is un-patent land which is hundreds of square miles in size with many swamps, creeks, lakes and pine forests, all of which provide an abundance of natural funnels, ridges and secluded openings for whitetail bucks to emerge. It’s not uncommon to see fox, martin, great gray owls, bald eagles and with any luck, timber wolves. Access to this spectacular deer country is protected by 350 acres of private property which preserves the area and its bucks for our guests. We also use the private property as a base camp for our ProBow hunting adventures. With privacy like this, it all but eliminates the odds of our bow hunters encountering others while afield. |
Most of our hunting is done from a selection of over 25 secluded climbing tree stand locations, each strategically situated over large rubs and active scrapes, multiple trail intersections, beaten down staging areas, busy funnels and well travelled meadow edges. The stand height from the forest floor is in the 20 - 25 ft. range, with shooting lanes trimmed in three or four directions. Most shots from our stands will be under 25 yards, so a good ear, sharp eye and solid draw is important. Rattling and grunting produce excellent results, especially from the vantagepoint of a tree stand. There are many variables that can affect how many deer a hunter will see. We’ll put you in prime deer country, your success will be dependent on your skills as a bow hunter.
The weather in Kenora during the month of November can be nasty at times, with temperatures ranging from 35°F down to 10°F. Staying on stand for 4 to 5 hours requires quiet, wool hunting clothes, supported with warm felt pack rubber boots, a thick fleece pull-over hood/mask and wool shooting mitts/gloves. |
